What is life-cycle costing?

Life-cycle costing is an economic concept and when thoroughly conducted, indicates the total cost that a facility will incur over the life span of the asset, construction project, or investment. The cost includes initial expenses, maintenance costs, operating expenses, and disposal or salvage expenses.
