What is an O-ring?

An O-ring is a round, rubber sealing ring shaped like the letter “O.” It’s used to prevent leaks by creating a tight, waterproof seal between two connected parts, such as fittings, valves, faucets, and pumps. When two parts are placed together (like the handle of a faucet or a pipe fitting), the O-ring sits in a small groove between them. The O-ring compresses slightly, filling any gaps and forming a watertight or airtight seal.
