What are the two occurrences in the metering device?

The metering device cools the refrigerant liquid by the evaporation of a percentage of the liquid refrigerant (sometimes called flashing), and it reduces the refrigerant pressure (and therefore the temperature) to correspond to the evaporator temperature at the saturation condition.
