What is the False Claims Act?

The False Claims Act imposes civil liability on anyone who knowingly submits a false or fraudulent claim to a federal healthcare program. An example is claiming you sold 500 knee braces to fake patients and submitting claims to Medicare for the cost of the make-believe patients.
